The much-anticipated 2017 Civic Type R will hit the dealerships in late spring with an expected price tag of the mid $30,000s.
Read on to find out what the 2017 Civic Type R will bring us!
Performance
Designed to perform like a racecar
A 2.0L i-VTEC turbocharged 306hp engine, exclusive to the Civic Type R
If you think the previous generation of the Civic Type R performed like a dream, this one may amaze you even more.
Even though Honda carried over the engine from last year’s model, the 2017 Type R's performance will likely top that of the previous generation with a recessed air scoop that delivers extra air to the engine.
It comes packed with a bunch of performance-boosters, including:
- An adaptive suspension system that assists with the car’s handling and stability
- A differential that enables tight turns and better control
- A triple-exhaust tip system
- Three customized driving modes that automatically adjust the car to the desired performance level
- A dual axis front strut design that reduces torque steer by 55 percent
- An aero kit to increase the car’s center of gravity
Exterior
LED lights, a minimal-looking hood scoop, and aesthetically-pleasing grooves
A classy sporty look with a hint of red
An enhanced appearance with a rear wing and three exhaust tips
You can tell right off the bat that Honda carried over some exterior design aspects from the previous year’s model, but a few subtle changes have the brand new model looking meaner than ever.
Designed with aerodynamics in mind, the 2017 Civic Type R has hot air vents behind the front wheels, a rear wing, and a flat underbody.
The LED headlights, tail lights, fog lights, and turn signals add a dramatic flair to the car’s appearance. The grooved body showcases hints of red everywhere. If you look past the 20-inch black alloy wheels, you’ll spot red brake calibers.
If you find the exterior impressive, wait until you see the interior.
Interior
An interior worthy of the racetrack
Described on Honda’s website as “race-ready from the inside out”, the interior closely resembles that of a regular Civic Hatchback. The only exceptions are the lightweight bucket seats, leather steering wheel, an aluminum shift knob for the 6-speed manual transmission, and aluminum pedals.
Technology
The future is here with a state-of-the-art touchscreen system
The 2017 Civic Type R will come right out of the factory loaded with top-notch technology that will add a whole lot of comfort and convenience to your driving experience.
Honda confirmed that there will be a 7-inch touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can also sync it up with your satellite, Pandora, and HD radio stations and enjoy the crisp sound through a 540-watt, 12-speaker sound system.
The car comes with an automatic climate control system, which can be controlled via the touchscreen. The digital meter offers all kinds of information you could find, including the boost pressure, G-forces, and track times.
